ECAG August 2010
Newsletter ECAG meetings begin in September! Shoney’s Restaurant Come at 11:30 a.m. to eat. Meeting begins at 12:00 p.m. Our guest speaker will be Steven Todd. He is a Flint Knapper and Artifact Collector. He will explain and demonstrate the lithic art of flintknapping. The dictionary defines flintknapping as “An addiction one acquires from pursuing the creation of tools through the use of stone that can be flaked and fractured conchoidally. “ It was not until recently that man quit knapping for survival purposes, although a few small groups of people in remote parts of the world still knap as part of their daily lives. This ancient art has been around for about 4 million years and has evolved as man has evolved. Today there are many beautiful pieces of art; not only tools, knives, arrowheads, but gemstones, jewelry , etc. This presentation should be very informative and interesting. Steven has his work on display at the Eclectic Emporium. ECAG Board Meeting EXHIBITS Wetumpka Library September/October ~ Barbara Fitzgerald
