RULES FOR ENTRY

  1. Only original artwork no older than two years and done by the artist will be accepted. No
    copies of other artwork will be accepted.  Artwork must not have been shown in previous
    juried ECAG shows.  Artwork may include drawings, pastels, oils, acrylics, water medium
    under glass, mixed media, collage, sculpture, 3-D art, photography, enhanced photography,
    printmaking and fiber art.
  2. Two entries per member: $6.00 for each entry. Membership for current year is required to
    enter the art show. Guild membership dues are $35.00 for the year (January 1 through December 31)
    and must be paid at time of entry.
  3. All 2-D works must be dry, framed, and have wire for hanging.  (No saw tooth or any other
    kind of hangers will be accepted.)  Gallery wrap will also be accepted without a frame if sides are painted.
  4. Sculpture should be dry, fully assembled and ready to display. Due to the growth of our Guild
    and the number of screens available, we will limit the size of the entries.  2-D entries cannot exceed
    48 inches in any direction, including frame.  3-D works cannot exceed 48 inches in height, width, or
    depth and must be fully assembled.  Sculpture will be displayed on a table in the exhibit area; however,
    the artist is responsible for any special display stands or covers that might be required for their artwork.
  5. There must be at least 5 entries in a single category for the category to be judged.
  6. Category should be indicated on the entry form. Categories are as follows:

 

Category I Drawings:   DRAWINGS DONE WITH GRAPHITE, PEN & INK, CHARCOAL, MARKERS.
CRAYONS OR OIL PASTELS


Category II Pastels: PAINTINGS WITH POWDERED PIGMENTS MIXED WITH BINDER AND

ROLLED INTO ROUND OR SQUARE STICKS (INCLUDES PASTEL PENCILS).  IT HAS THE
CHARACTERISTIC OF PRODUCING DUST WHEN USED 

 

Category III Oils:   PAINTINGS WITH PIGMENTS THAT ARE BOUND WITH A MEDIUM OF DRYING OIL
          

Category IV Acrylics:   PAINTINGS WITH A FAST-DRYING PAINT CONTAINING PIGMENT SUSPENDED 
IN ACRYLIC POLYMER EMULSION

 

Category V Water Medium Under Glass:  PAINTINGS WITH WATERCOLORS, ACRYLICS,   TEMPERA,  
OR  GOUACHE, USING WATER AS THE MEDIUM.

 

Category VI Mixed Media and Collage:  MIXED MEDIA:  PAINTING WITH MORE THAN ONE MEDIUM;
I.E., (PASTELS & WATERCOLOR), (ACRYLIC & CHARCOAL), (WATERCOLOR & OIL), (ACRYLIC & CHARCOAL),
(NEWSPAPER, PHOTO &OIL), ETC

COLLAGE:  A WORK ASSEMBLAGE OF DIFFERENT FORMS, THUS CREATING A NEW WHOLE; I.E., (NEWS
PAPER, TISSUE PAPER & PAPER CLIP ON WOOD, ETC)

 

Category VII Sculpture and 3-D Art:  SCULPTURE, 3-D BAS RELIEF, POTTERY, CERAMIC, WOOD CARVING

 

Category VIII Photography:  PHOTOGRAPHY IS THE ART OF CREATING PICTURES USING CAMERA SETTINGS. 
PHOTOS MAY BE CROPPED.

 

Category IX  Enhanced Photography and Printmaking:   ENHANCED PHOTOGRAPHY IS THE ART OF
CHANGING OR ENHANCING THE  CHARACTER OF THE PICTURE BY USING A COMPUTER PROGRAM OR USING
ANY ARTIST MEDIUM; I.E., OILS, PASTELS, ACRYLICS, ETC.

PRINTMAKING  IS THE PROCESS OF MAKING ARTWORKS BY PRINTING,  NORMALLY ON PAPER.

 

 Category X Fiber Art:  FIBER ART IS A STYLE OF FINE ART WHICH USES TEXTILES SUCH AS FABRIC, YARN
AND NATURAL AND SYNTHETIC  FIBERS.  IT FOCUSES ON THE MATERIALS AND ON THE MANUAL LABOR
INVOLVED AS PART OF ITS SIGNIFICANCE.

 

  1. Awards:  Monetary awards will be given according to the amount of money taken in and how much money
    the ECAG treasury will allow.  Purchase awards in the amount of $250.00 are optional with each entry.
  2. Work will be taken in at First Community Bank in Wetumpka, on Saturday, February 18, 2012, between
    10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m
    .  The Guild will collect 20% commission on sale of artwork and that commission
    will be added to the Guild’s treasury.  No commission is collected on Purchase Awards.
  3. Reasonable care will be used at all times in handling entries, but they will not be insured against damage or theft.
  4. An awards reception will be held on the last day of the show, Sunday, February 26, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. until
    3:00 p.m.
    at First Community Bank in Wetumpka.  All award winners are expected to be there.
  5. All entries are to be picked up on that same Sunday, February 26, 2012, between 3:00 and 3:30 p.m.  Entries not
    picked up on February 26, 2012, will be taken to Carol Hickman’s house and the owners of the entries will be
    charged a $10.00 holding fee. This fee is to be paid at the time of pick up. All late fee collections will be added to
    the Guild’s treasury.
