ECAG Membership Meeting
Wednesday, January 11, 2012

Guest Speaker:  Vickie Ham

PLEASE NOTE:  The meeting will be at Coaches Corner, 203 Orline Street, downtown Wetumpka.
If you would like to eat lunch before the meeting, please be there at 11:00 a.m.  Your order will
be taken between 11:00 and 11:15 a.m.  No orders will be taken after this time.  You may
stay after the meeting and eat if you wish.  The prices on the lunch menu are very reasonable.
An 18 percent gratuity will be added to your bill.
The business meeting will begin at 12 Noon and will end by 1:00 p.m.
The guest speaker will start the business meeting.

Winter Art Show

Proposed dates for the Winter Art Show are: 
Take-in on February 18th, 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.;
Show to be on exhibit Monday through Friday, February20th through February 24th;
Reception on Sunday, February 26th, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.;
Take Down February 26th, 3:00 to 3:30 p.m.

The prospectus and up-to-date information regarding the place for the show will be sent out very soon.
 


Fund Raising Committee

 

The Fund Raising Committee is looking for Committee members as
well as ideas for Fund Raising. We have had several excellent ideas
at the Christmas Party but we're looking for more to help us get started.

Kitty Gilbert entered a painting, “In Memory of Jasmine”, in a contest on Facebook, and won
1st place. She also won a free Gallery profile on Artist Display Network’s website
www.artistdisplay.net for one year.

Steve Garst received Signature Status with the Watercolor Society of Alabama with his painting " A Clowning Moment" at the 2011 National Juried Exhibition of the Watercolor Society of Alabama held at the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art in Tuscumbia, Alabama and also received the Signature Members Award with his painting "MJ & Billy" at the Georgia Watercolor Society in the GWS Memebers Show held in October 2011..

Deb Garst juried into the 18th Annual Gulf Breeze Celebrate the Arts Festival to be held in March 2012.

Steve Garst will begin his Winter/Spring session of art classes at the Dog House Studio
on Canyon Rd. in Wetumpka in February 2012. To enable Steve to give each
student individualized instruction, class size is limited. For more information
call Deb & Steve at 514-7188.


Aimée Harbin will be starting an adult/ teen sculpture class at
the Prattville Learning Arts center, Chestnut St.
January 10th(Tuesday next week). Four secessions, $45.00
plus clay-I/2 block- 12 1/2 lb.- $9.15, one tool- $2.00(if
you don't already have a wire tool) and maybe glaze- depending.

Childrens class Tuesday afternoon- contact me for more info.

Please join us in January at a Reception of SAC's
32nd Annual Members’ Show and Competition

The show is in Memory of Nell Hardeman, the founder of this competition.
The Reception and Awards Presentations are,
SUNDAY, January 22, 2 TO 4 PM
EXHIBIT WILL BE ON DISPLAY THROUGH FEBRUARY 14th
Competition Rules:

  • All Entrants must be Society of Arts & Crafts Members (if not current $25 memberships
    can be purchased at turn-in)

  • Entries must be brought to the Gallery on Jan. 18th from Noon-4 p.m.

  • Entries will be accepted in 3 Categories:

    • Cat. 1: Paintings, Drawings and Original Prints

    • Cat. 2: Photography and Computer Generated Works

    • Cat. 3: Three-Dimensional Works

  • 2 D Entries must be framed or gallery wrapped and have wire for hanging.

  • Items must not have been entered in a previous Members’Shows.

  • 1st-3rd place in all categories, will receive appropriate rosettes and/or monetary
    awards. Prize amounts will be based on the number of entries. Ribbons will be
    awarded for Honorable Mentions at the discretion of the jurist.

  • Entries need to be picked up at the Gallery on Tuesday, February 14st from Noon-4 p.m.

    • Fees: $7 per entry ($25 memberships can be purchased at turn-in)

  • Limit of 2 entries in each category per entrant.
