We will continue to communicate with you through our email Member Bulletins about our rotating exhibits and upcoming exhibitions. Our next Elmore County Art Guild juried art show is tentatively scheduled for February 2022 at First Community Bank of Central Alabama in Wetumpka.

FEATURED ECAG MEMBER ARTIST: Warren Simons
Warren Simons has practiced the art of seeing for nearly 20 years, photographing the visual surprises hiding in plain sight. Staying calm, moving slowly, looking deeply, having no preconceived ideas of what he will see and photograph, he lets the visual world reveal its treasures. Using curiosity and exploration, he makes serendipity happen. It is a deeply satisfying process.
Warren Simons, Beach Chairs | Photograph
"Where Eastern Lake meets the Gulf of Mexico is a magical place. I go exploring there as often as I can. This image was taken early one morning, looking out on Eastern Lake and the Gulf beyond. It never gets old."
Simons follows his own road of exploration, learning from photographers, painters, art teachers, writers, potters, and poets. He has won numerous awards for his work. Having grown up in Massachusetts, he lived in New York City for 25 years and now makes his home in Montgomery, Alabama.
Warren Simons, Dreaming of a Landscape | Photograph
"This image is one part exploring and being curious, and one part playing. In my wanderings, I find cracks, stains, blebs, and other marks on concrete walls and ceilings. I take those photos home and paint on them in the digital darkroom. I’ve created a series of “concrete landscapes” in this way. The visual world is so amazing."
Warren Simons, Pink Dress | Photograph
"A happy example of practicing serendipity: Walking home from work, having my camera with me, looking everywhere, and being surprised by this dress out on a fire escape."
